Absolutely one of my favourite toys in the whole wide world is my Wacom Intuos tablet.

With a bit of Adobe Illustrator wizardry, I can use it to transform rough pencil sketches like this…

Into whizbang fully-digitally-inked-and-coloured alleged masterpieces like this:

I call it “Batman Forgets His Poncho (Or, When Butlers Fail To Butle).”

If you would like to secure a genuine, limited-edition original dot matrix printout, please deposit USD537,045 into MDJ Superstar’s official PayPal account, and let me know when you’d like me to fax it over to you, sometime between the years 2018 and 2031.

In honor of the brave men and women who were left standing after the carnage of 1/17.

I haven’t drawn in ages, but I really really needed something to get my mind off of that IAMNINOY campaign that we did.

(MDJ Superstar confesses that he is a bit obsessive about IAMNINOY… I must have posted at least seven blog entries about the commercial and the AVP and the merchandise, etc.! Can you imagine what it’s like when I have a kid?? I’ll be flooding my blog with all sorts of senseless little doodads about her! I tend to fixate, can you tell?)

But anyway, back to art. This is what I came up with.

I wanted to play with shapes and shadows, more than the actual line art and details. Plus, I spent the last couple of nights chilling out to DVD’s of Scarface and Sin City (yes, that is perfect therapy cinema right there…), so I would think it’s obvious where the style influences came from.

P.S. To my Agency friends – can you guess who this was based on?

Can anyone say “over-exposed”?

Yet another portrait of MDJ Superstar, this time by Bong B, one of our creative directors at the Agency.

This, I’m actually proud of, as it’s the first portrait that features none of the following:

  1. Exaggeratedly overblown bilbil
  2. Miniscule package
  3. Unpleasantly derogatory sexual innuendo

The thing about my stunning visage, shiny round kalbo head, and brawny MDJ Superstar biceps is that people perpetually feel compelled to draw me.

Sigh. Such is the price of fame and fortune…

Lopez, I know you love me, and I forgive you already.
